Biloxi Lighthouse gets Commemorative Stamp and Complete Makeover
Beneath Biloxi blue skys and towering cumulus clouds the 161 year old Biloxi lighthouse celebrates it's place on a US Postage Stamp.
The City of Biloxi and the United States Postal Service Commemorated the First-Day-of-Issue for the Biloxi Lighthouse on July 23, 2009.
Hundreds stood in blistering heat to celebrate the honor, and to be among the first to purchase the new stamp. A total of five Gulf Coast Lighthouses will be honored on stamps by the US Postal Service.

The Biloxi Lighthouse built in 1848 is the only lighthouse in the United States to stand in the middle of a four-lane highway. The lighthouse survived Hurricane Katrina and is reported to be the most photographed landmark on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. This historic landmark and others can still be seen aboard Biloxi's oldest and best historic tour. The Biloxi Tour Train. Established in 1962 as the "Shrimp Tour Train", this little open-aire train has treated many visitors to a historic journey through one of the oldest towns in America.
